Residential Camp
Ages: 7 - 16
Region: Central (G.T.A., Haliburton, Muskoka)
We offer safe, summer fun in the heart of beautiful Muskoka. Staff are youthful in spirit and mature in judgement... well-trained, highly-motivated, camper-centred and supremely caring. Campers are grouped by cabin into small circles of friends for portions of the program day with plenty of additional opportunities for independent, structured choices. We take pride in the site where campers play and enjoy their stay: the beautiful grounds, gorgeous waterfront, delicious food, and well-equipped cabins. We are committed to the whole child and to providing each camper with the tools to grow and develop here at Camp, and throughout his/her life.
Family owned and operated for all of its 50 years, Camp Tawingo offers safe, summer fun in beautiful Muskoka. Youthful in spirit but mature in judgement, our staff are well-trained, highly motivated, and supremely caring. We take great pride our 220-acre site of fields, forests, beaches, and streams; our outstanding facilities; our creative programs; our delicious food; and our clean and fully-equipped cabins. Our promise is to instill in our campers an ability to live and play harmoniously with others in the out-of-doors.
Our Waterfront is extensive: offering recreational and instructional swimming, canoeing, sailing, and kayaking. Our Sports Field is equipped with basketball and tennis courts, baseball diamonds, a soccer field, a beach volleyball court, archery, and miniputt. Our cabins have full bathrooms with hot and cold running water. Overnight outtrips are adventures every camper enjoys. Campers may choose to join the cast of the musical, take part in tournaments in the Library and/or at the Sports Field, create Arts and Crafts at Jorgi Junction or woodcraft at Loon Lodge, learn about nature at S.W.A.M.P. Lodge, or go fishing from the dock.
While education and personal achievement are important in choosing our staff, we place the greatest emphasis on counsellors who love children, who set good examples in their personal habits, who are practiced in outdoor living, and who have a good sense of humour. Our camper to staff ratio is less than 3:1. Camp Tawingo counsellors reside in the camper cabins and eat every meal with the campers. Special attention is paid to creating an easy transition from home to camp, forming friendships, building confidence, and creating memories. The Program staff make certain that activites truly reflect the needs and interests of the campers. We employ experienced specialists in swimming, canoeing, sailing, outripping, campcraft, nature lore, native crafts, athletics, music, and leadership training.
Camp Tawingo is all about fun, adventure, cooperation, friendship, leadership, inspiration, and citizenship. It is about kids being all they can be. To this, we are committed.
