Summer Camp Kitchen Staff

Site Support Staff (Kitchen)
Site Support Staff are integral to the camp experience of campers at C.Y.O. Camp Brébeuf. Kitchen and Maintenance Staff are full members of the camp community. In addition to their assigned tasks, they are also expected to participate in community events during their free time and may be asked to supervise or interact with campers.
Qualifications of a Site Support Staff:
(Candidates must be 15 years old by December 30, 2010)
·Completion of Camp Brébeuf’s Leadership program, similar formation or work experience is an asset
·Current First Aid and CPR is also an asset; opportunities for first aid training will also be offered
·Clear Criminal Records check is required of successful candidates
·Experience working with young people within a faith based context eg: ministry in a parish, school or community setting would be helpful / an asset
·Experience and ability with particular area of work (kitchen, maintenance, lawn care and sanitation) is an asset
Characteristics of a Site Support Staff
·Act as a responsible role model at camp and be aware that this responsibility continues after camp
·Make decisions that are safe
·Understand and practice the policies of C.Y.O. Camp Brébeuf’
·Have initiative to do the right thing at the right time, without being asked
·Ability to accept supervision and guidance, asking for help when needed
As part of the Kitchen Staff you will be expected to help out with:
·Setting up the dining area, cleaning the kitchen and dining hall throughout the day
·Washing dishes
·Helping to unload supply trucks and put orders away
·Assist in the preparation of meals
·Maintain cleanliness of kitchen
·Assist staff and counselors in dish-room
·Be on time and prepared for staff meetings
·During free time may participate in all camp activities
* Kitchen staff will be required to work one weekend with stay-over campers
In addition to the following responsibilities, each employee shall participate in the Agency Health and Safety program and fulfill their duties consistent with the Mission of the Catholic Youth Organization.
