Male Leadership "River Trainer"- YMCA John Island Camp

Leadership- Norquay River Trainer

Contract: June 25th- August 27th, 2011         

Norquay River Trainers are responsible for the overall preparation, delivery and summation of the Norquay River program. Norquay's is the 2nd year of the Leadership Program at John Island Camp.  There is a 35 day river trip compontent to this program.

River Trainers arrange for the cultural programming that occurs on trip, and are responsible for the overall safety of each participant. River Trainers also prepare and deliver any required training sessions prior to the beginning of the program, delivery of the Norquay curriculum while on trip, co-ordination of the post-trip delivery of presentations to the camp community, co-ordination of in camp cabin placements, packaging of the trip route, program and equipment,  and the preparation of a report.

Required Qualifications: NLS, First Aid, CPR ā€œCā€, Criminal Record Check, Wilderness First Responder, SRT, ORCA Moving Water Certification. 

Preferred Applicants: Mature individuals with extensive camping and outtripping experience. Demonstrated proficiency in camper leadership and excellent wilderness and risk management skills. Leadership staff require a high level of experience and maturity is a necessary attribute
