Fall Assistant Outdoor Educator
(Hourly Contract)
Location: YMCA Cedar Glen,
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity offering opportunities for personal growth, community involvement, and leadership. YMCA Cedar Glen is a 263 acre site that has three significant program focuses: summer camp programs, year round outdoor education programs, and year round leadership training programs.
Fall Assistant Outdoor Educators provide direct program deliver in all areas of the campus, including leadership and team building activities for groups of all ages, and help out in other areas of the operation as needed (i.e. kitchen, maintenance, etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct program delivery to all groups of all ages and backgrounds, while building positive relationships and role modeling the mission, vision, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
Monitor the safety of all activities and programs and respond immediately to rectify and safety concerns.
Act as host and facilitator for all individuals and groups, ensuring overall satisfaction with campus and facilities, programs and staff.
Assist with general maintenance and cleanliness of the site and provide support with other duties as required.
Attends and participates in all staff trainings and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Standard First Aid/CPR is required
Successful completion of Criminal Reference Check required
Flexibility regarding assigned working ours, including days, weekends, evenings and holidays required
*Ability to speak French fluently considered a major asset*
High Ropes/Challenge Course certification or experience is an asset
Post secondary education in outdoor recreation or relate field is an asset
Experience in outdoor education/leadership role is an asset
National Lifeguard Service certification is an asset
