SERVICE AREA: Outdoor Services

POSITION: Outdoor Centre - Cook

LOCATION: Kitchener-Waterloo (St. Clements)

REPORTS TO: Director, Outdoor Centre

HOURS: Fall contract (year round, evenings and weekends as required)
Note: full time an option.

SALARY: $10.60 per hour

START DATE: August 2010

FUNCTION: The incumbent will manage all aspects of kitchen operations and provide excellent, good quality food to all participants while on site.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Preparing good tasting and nutritional meals.

 Responsible for planning menus according to Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating. 

 Ensuring food is ordered as required.

 Responsible for utilizing proper methods of food preparation and handling according to public health regulations.

 Meet with various sales representatives to ensure the best possible pricing and to investigate new menu options.

 Maintaining a clean cooking/kitchen environment.

 Oversee people working in the kitchen to ensure proper food handling, preparation, etc.

 Awareness of food allergies.

 Attend workshops, trainings, conferences and staff meetings as required.

 Assumes other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 High School diploma

 1-2 years of food service experience, preferably cooking for large groups.

 Food Safety Training certification program

 Misc. cooking and nutrition courses an asset

 First aid and CPR certification

 Acceptable Police Check
