Counsellors - Two Week Opportunity

Dates: Saturday August 4th to Sunday August 18th  
Renumeration: $270/week plus room and board

Beginning in 1953 Camp Banting is the oldest camp operated by the Canadian Diabetes Association and has been a leading residential camp for children and youth age 8-16 living with type 1 diabetes.  Serving the Ottawa region and Eastern Ontario the Camp Banting team works closely with the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario to provide exceptional care to our campers.

Camp
Banting offers a two-week camping session in early-August and the Challenger Leadership program and serves approximately 80 campers each year. Camp Banting strives to support campers in the development of strong diabetes self-management skills while allowing these campers to pursue other traditional camping activities, including but not limited to; waterfront activities, arts & crafts, sports, adventure activities such as low ropes course, and climbing.

Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director, the counsellors primary focus of working directly with campers, providing support, supervision and ensuring that campers are receiving a high-quality camping experience. Counsellors will support area instructors in all program areas and actively participate in all activities along with their campers. Experienced counsellors may also work with Junior Counsellors to support their learning.  Counsellors will instruction roles and give leadership to specific program areas throughout camp.

Requirements
:  17+ years old as of June 30, 2012, Standard First Aid and CPR C.
