Maintenance Coordinator

POSITION PURPOSE‚:

The Maintenance Coordinator is a part of the support team required to deliver Davern's camp program. The Maintenance Coordinator will be a member of the resource staff team and will provide expertise, experience and skills specific to the facilities operation and maintenance of Camp Davern.


GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Camp Davern experience is based on the building of a camp community. The camp community is supportive of all participants, staff and families and provides opportunities for growth and learning for all in spirit, mind and body. The Camp Davern Maintenance Coordinator plays an important role in keeping the camp community, grounds and facilities safe, clean and well-maintained.


The Maintenance Coordinator:

Is a responsible role model at camp and are aware that this continues throughout the year. 

Demonstrates respectful relationships with staff and campers. Puts the greater good of our participant™s safety at the forefront in every decision made. Role models the core values of the YMCA-YWCA. Understands and practices the policies and procedures of Camp Davern.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Maintenance Coordinator (MC) is expected to:


-Ensure that camp grounds are clean and well maintained (lawn mowing as needed) 

-Ensure that the dining hall floor is mopped once a day or more often if needed

-Ensure that staff have the necessary supplies to clean cabins at the end of each session

-Ensure fire alarms, fire extinguishers, site map, emergency procedures, broom and dustpan are in working order and present in each cabin at the beginning of each session

-Provide supervision for staff designated to maintenance duties

-Clean washrooms twice a day and/or as needed in case of unforeseen events

-Regularly empty garbage trailer and take garbage to the dump during scheduled dump hours

 -Keep a maintenance log and complete maintenance reports when appropriate 

-Ensure the Camp Director or designate is kept apprised of maintenance situations

 -Ensure the washrooms are kept adequately stocked with toilet paper, soap and paper towels

-Communicate daily with the Camp Director regarding the state of the camp

-Attend resource staff meetings once a week or as required

-Duties include but are not limited to: cabin maintenance, plumbing, cleaning, water testing, lawn mowing, wood chopping, brush clearing, trail maintenance, enviromental stewardship projects, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

-Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C

-Clear Criminal Record Check 

-Attend and participate in pre-camp training as discussed with the Camp Director

-Drivers License (F Class preferred)

-Basic landscaping skills, basic carpentry skills, plumbing knowledge an asset

-Chainsaw Operator™s License
