ZOO CAMP COUNSELLORS
For the 2012 Summer Season

The Education Branch of the Toronto Zoo is looking for staff to lead Zoo Camp, which is an educational day camp held in weekly sessions for children ages 4-16.   Through a variety of exciting topics for different age groups we aim to provide lots of fun, action, and educational value within a positive and friendly environment.

Zoo Camp counsellors are employed from early June up to Labour Day weekend and are responsible for planning and delivering educational programs based on weekly themes.  Time is spent touring the Zoo and participating in a variety of nature-related activities and games.

Successful applicants will:

• be enrolled in/a recent graduate of post secondary education, preferably in the education and/or biology field
• have experience working with children in a camp atmosphere
• demonstrate knowledge of animal, plant, and conservation issues, plus the ability to pass this information onto others
• demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to GREEN practices
• familiarity with the Zoo and its exhibits is preferred
  
  *Standard First Aid & CPR “C” certification required / preferred.
   

Position duration:   June 5 to August 31, 2012.

Salary:  $10.93/hr
