Camp Director

CISS is looking for a Camp Director for a residential programme for international students at Ridley College, St. Catharines.  Candidates should: have experience in education and administration; be computer literate; be strong team builders and good leaders; and have a passion for the outdoors.

 

Overview

 

The Camp Director will generally be responsible for all matters in connection with the organisation and operation of the camp: including the selection and implementation of the programme; local public relations; budget management; and the safety and supervision of all persons, personnel, and facilities.

 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

a.                  Interview and hire competent and qualified staff as required and in accordance with the proposed budget;

 

b.                  Control expense and budgetary factors of the operation and maintain full and accurate records;

 

c.                  Ensure open lines of communication with maintenance staff, programme staff and central operations staff;

 

d.                  Supervise the completion of the programme including the return of the premises and the closing of the financial records.

 

The camp is scheduled to operate from June 28 to August 15, 2009. Due to the residential aspect of the programme, accommodation will be provided for the director at the site while the programme is in operation.  This position requires some preparation in the pre-season.  The director will need to co-ordinate the camp prior to the programme start and will have to familiarise him/herself with the site, the excursions, the programme and all the logistics of the endeavour.

 

Compensation for this position is based on the candidates qualification and experience.  .
